Children’s Aid believes parents and caregivers should be the first and primary source of information about sexuality and healthy relationships for their kids.
Our multi-week workshop series is designed to help parents and caregivers increase their own sexual literacy and to improve communication with their kids about sexuality.
Encouraging healthy decision-making
Our goals are to help parents and caregivers become more comfortable having conversations about sexuality with their kids so they can play a crucial role in their teen’s healthy sexual development. The majority of young people say that their parents have the greatest influence on their decisions about sex and that it would be much easier to delay sex and avoid unplanned pregnancy if they could have open, honest conversations with their parents and caregivers about all kind of topics related to sexuality.
This program is part of our commitment to knocking down the barriers—such as teen pregnancy—that can keep young people from succeeding in the classroom and beyond. We encourage parent participants to share their experiences with peers, encouraging more families to have open, healthy communication about sexuality.
