NEW YORK – Children’s Aid has been selected as a beneficiary of The New York Times Communities Fund holiday campaign, which will help provide vital resources – from vision care to enrichment programs – to children, youth, and families across New York City.

For 114 years, The New York Times has coordinated this holiday giving campaign to encourage readers to support those who are under-resourced and over-burdened. To date, The Fund has raised over $354 million for nonprofit organizations. Children’s Aid has been privileged to receive support from The Fund since its inception, helping generations of New Yorkers thrive.

“At Children’s Aid, we’ve been proud partners of The New York Times since the very first campaign, more than 100 years ago,” said Children’s Aid President and CEO Phoebe C. Boyer. “Through the generosity of readers, our children and families have stocked their pantries, furnished their homes, caught up on rent, achieved educational goals, trained for new careers, and so much more. This consistent support from the campaign strengthens our programs, inspires our staff, and allows us to remove obstacles standing between New York City’s children and their boundless potential.”

This year’s Communities Fund campaign will support direct services for Children’s Aid children and families, including free vision screenings and prescription glasses for elementary through high school students, after-school and summer enrichment programs, and holistic support for students in our 19 community schools – ensuring that children not only succeed academically, but also thrive socially and emotionally.

Children’s Aid joins Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New York, First Book, UJA-Federation of New York, Per Scholas, OneGoal and CAMFED in this recognition.
