Children’s Aid Mayoral Election Statement

NEW YORK, NY — This Tuesday, November 4, New Yorkers voted to select their next mayor, electing Zohran Mamdani to lead New York City. In response, Phoebe Boyer, CEO of Children’s Aid, issued the following statement:

“Congratulations to the mayor-elect. As you prepare to lead our great city, we urge you to keep New York’s 1.4 million children front and center. They cannot vote, but their well-being determines our city’s future.

“One in four New York City children lives in poverty, and far too many face hunger or housing instability. As federal and local budget cuts loom, it’s more important than ever for city leaders to champion proven programs that keep families strong – from affordable childcare to nutritious food to mental and physical health supports.

“We are encouraged by the very talented members of your transition team, including leaders who understand the needs of children and families and the vital role nonprofits play in supporting communities. Children’s Aid stands ready to partner with your administration to ensure that every child in every neighborhood has the opportunity to thrive. Our children — and the future of New York City — depend on it.”
