June 25, 2024 • New York, NY – Children’s Aid announced today that its Go!Healthy nutrition education program has received a $50,000 grant from Bayer Fund, the philanthropic arm of Bayer in the U.S. This funding will be used to expand the Go!Chefs program for children and increase food box distributions for families in need.
“Our Go!Healthy initiative fosters lifelong healthy habits through engaging activities, nutrition education, and access to resources for active, healthy lifestyles,” said Phoebe C. Boyer, President and CEO of Children’s Aid. “We deeply appreciate this ongoing support from Bayer Fund, which will enable us to broaden our Go!Chefs culinary program and provide direct relief to even more New York City families through our food box program.”
Go!Chefs is a hands-on food and nutrition education program that teaches children how to prepare healthy, wholesome meals at home. With this grant, Go!Chefs will enhance its curriculum, tailored for elementary, middle, and high school students across 14 Children’s Aid sites. The grant will also support comprehensive staff training to ensure effective teaching and implementation of the new curriculum.
Additionally, the grant will fund food boxes for select families participating in our nutrition education programming. These food boxes have been a critical resource for families in need throughout the pandemic and remain essential during the city’s recovery. With this funding, Children’s Aid will provide 100 six-week food boxes to children identified as food insecure.
“Bayer Fund is proud to support Children’s Aid and their work to make real, sustainable impacts in their community,” said Al Mitchell, President of Bayer Fund. “Programs like Go!Healthy help combat the critical issue of food insecurity, and we’re proud to play a role with helping even more people in our community have access to healthy, nutritious food.”
Bayer Fund supports Bayer’s, one of the country’s largest life-sciences companies, mission of Health for all, Hunger for none by working with organizations and nonprofits, like Children’s Aid, to deliver on shared goals and overall strengthen our country’s communities.
