Every decade, the U.S. Census Bureau collects information to determine the population and update vital demographic details. Completing the census is one of the quickest tasks you can do that will yield the greatest benefit for our community.
Lawmakers and businesses will use census data to make crucial decisions for the next 10 years, such as determining representation for federal, state, and local offices, and drawing congressional and state legislative districts. The results are also used to determine the distribution of nearly $1.5 trillion in federal funds which goes to public services such as schools, jobs, transportation, and housing, in otherwise underserved communities.
For Children’s Aid, data collected from the census will help determine our funding for meals, education, and ensuring comprehensive support for youth and families in high-need neighborhoods.
That’s why we’re encouraging everyone within our community to complete their census form. If you have not completed the census, please go my2020census.gov today.
Together we can make a difference.
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Children’s Aid has been organizing food distribution events to meet the needs of the families we serve. During the month of September, census takers will be partnering with our food distribution teams to boost census participation our communities and ensure our families have the political representation and resources they deserve.
Census takers will be tabling at the food distribution events listed below. If you haven’t completed your census and live nearby, or if you’re already planning to attend one of these events, please stop by the census table and make sure you’re counted! It’s safe, easy, and important.
