Children's Aid Applauds Governor Cuomo for Creating Opportunities for Young People

“We applaud Governor Cuomo for including in his budget several important proposals that will create vital opportunities for young people across New York,” said Phoebe C. Boyer, president and CEO of The Children’s Aid Society. “In particular, we are excited to see the state seize on community schools as a way to strengthen academic success while also recognizing that we have to support youth in and aging out of foster care as they pursue their dreams of a college degree. We look forward to working with our elected leaders at every level of government to build on these proposals and, in the words of the governor, open the door to opportunity even wider.”

The Children’s Aid Society is an independent, nonprofit organization established to serve the children of New York City.  Our mission is to help children in poverty to succeed and thrive. We do this by providing comprehensive supports to children and their families in targeted high-needs New York City neighborhoods. Founded in 1853, it is one of the nation’s largest and most innovative non-sectarian agencies, serving New York’s neediest children. Services are provided in community schools, neighborhood centers, health clinics, and camps.
