Childrens Aid Named an Official Charity Partner of the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon Set for Sunday, November 5, 2017

Today, The Children’s Aid Society was named an Official Charity Partner of the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon. The race will take place on Sunday, November 5, 2017.

“This partnership joins two institutions that have a huge impact across New York City,” said Phoebe C. Boyer, the organization’s president and CEO. “The 2017 TCS New York City Marathon offers a unique and wide-reaching platform for our devoted charity runners to raise awareness and funds for the Children’s Aid mission of ensuring that all children and youth have the opportunity to fully realize their potential. We’re thrilled to support our runners on their journeys as they prepare for and achieve their goals to reach the finish line while raising awareness and critical funds.”

More than 350 official charity partners will be part of the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon. In 2016, 9,000 charity runners raised $36.1 million during the marathon on behalf of hundreds of not-for-profit organizations in New York City and across the nation. Since the inception of the official charity partner program in 2006, $235 million has been raised.

Children’s Aid has been helping young people living in poverty to succeed and thrive since 1853. The organization is a professional powerhouse of solutions for young people, its staff made up largely of teachers and social workers, mentors and health care providers who know what it takes to ensure children grow up strong and healthy, and ready to thrive in school and life. Children’s Aid has built a comprehensive counterattack on the obstacles that threaten academic achievement, with a focus on excellent academic and social-emotional learning, health and wellness, and strong stable families. Team Children’s Aid, our TCS New York City Marathon team, was founded to advance this important work by fostering the health and wellness of New Yorkers, and supporting our critical programming through fundraising. In year two, Team Children's Aid looks forward to further growth. The goal is to , support more runners—both those who receive a bib through our team and those who have their own bib—to cross the finish line and fundraise.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Children’s Aid as an official charity partner of the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon,” said Michael Rodgers, vice president of development and philanthropy for New York Road Runners. “Participants in our official charity partner program run for causes that are important to them, while raising critical funds that directly impact hundreds of charity organizations. We are inspired by the thousands of runners who take part in this program and wish them all the best as they begin their incredible journeys to the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon.”

The 2017 TCS New York City Marathon will feature a world-class American and international professional athlete field, charity runners, and thousands of runners of all ages and abilities. More than 10,000 volunteers help to support participants across the 26.2-mile race route, which touches each of New York City’s five boroughs and is lined with more than one million neighbors and guests.

The 2017 TCS New York City Marathon will be broadcast live locally on WABC-TV, Channel 7, and nationally on ESPN2.
